George Burkley is an owner-partner and the technical director of LOCUS, specializing in maritime simulation, training and research.  George started his career after graduation from the California Maritime Academy as a US Naval Officer and Merchant ship's officer, later completing his Master's work at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.  His technical specialties include portable pilot navigation systems, scale modeling, virtual modeling and general marine electronics. George established the non-profit Maritime Pilots Institute in Covington, Louisiana and currently serves as its Executive Director.
